The New York-based composer and performer group, Random Access Music (ram-nyc.org) is the recipient of a grant from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) in the amount of $8,900, as well as a grant from the Ditson Fund in the amount of $1,000. These grants will support their 2016-2017 season.
RAM’s opening concert of 2016-2017 will take place Friday, December 2nd, 2016, 8pm at Broom Tree Theatre (23-35 Broadway, Astoria, Queens 11106). The program includes two world premieres by RAM composers Gilbert Galindo and David Fetherolf featuring music for clarinet, cello, and piano with pianist David Broome, cellist Kate Dillingham, and clarinetist Thomas Piercy.
The board of directors of Random Access Music has selected Guy Barash (guybarash.com), Artistic Director, and Kate Dillingham (katedillingham.com), Executive Director. Together, they will continue the organization’s mission to promote the composition and performance of music by living composers in venues throughout New York City; foster an engaging collaborative spirit between composers and performers, deliver dynamic programming through concert presentations, educational outreach, and the annual Queens New Music Festival.
Season Highlights: Random Number One
December 2nd at 8pm at Broom Tree Theatre David Broome (piano), Kate Dillingham (cello), Thomas Piercy (clarinet) perform works by RAM composers Barash, Fetherolf, Galindo, and Schultz, alongside Henryk Górecki’s masterpiece, Lerchenmusik.
March 23rd at 8pm at Broom Tree Theatre John Gattis (horn), Andy Kozar (trumpet), and William Lang (trombone) perform works by RAM composers Barash, Galindo, and White.
The 6th annual Queens New Music Festival
May 19-21 at The Secret Theatre With RAM composers’ vocal and dramatic works on May 21 (Secret Theatre).
